LIMA - Applications are now being accepted for the Allen Lima Youth Leadership Class of 2018, ALL Executive Director Heather Rutz announced.
Allen Lima Youth Leadership is presented in partnership with Lima Rotary Foundation and Lima Memorial Health System. It is a county-wide youth leadership program designed for 35 high school sophomores and juniors (fall of 2017) who are enrolled in any school located within Allen County.
The program actively involves, educates and challenges youth to reach their fullest potential as leaders. It also provides an opportunity for students from the area schools to meet and interact with one another. The 2018 class will be the program’s 22nd.
Allen Lima Youth Leadership provides the opportunity to:
· learn more about how the Lima/Allen County community works
· understand and accept civic responsibilities
· acquire leadership skills such as coalition building, communication skill and visioning
· respond to concerns in their community with service projects.
The class spends four full days out of school on themed days, such as team building and public service. The course is free, thanks to partnerships with Lima Rotary Foundation and Lima Memorial Health System. Competition for the course is significant, as ALL typically receives three times as many applications as selected candidates, Rutz said.
Students can apply at http://www.allenlimaleadership.com/youth-application.html.
Applicants must have their completed applications submitted by May 31. For more information, or to receive a paper application, contact Rutz at 419-222-2711.
