Allen Lima Leadership is accepting applications for its Signature Course Class of 2018.
Those interested can apply at AllenLimaLeadership.com or find a downloadable paper application on the website.
The Signature Course is now in its 29th year, with more than 700 graduates. Thirty participants spend 10 months learning about their community and leadership development. They graduate with a deeper understanding of their community, and an increased capacity to serve it.
• Experience their community in eye-opening and rare ways, and learn more about how their community works,
• Develop leadership skills, such as team building, problem solving and conflict management,
• Make connections with peers and decision-makers, and exchange ideas with other participants and local leaders in diverse and nonpartisan environments,
• Gear up for civic, board and service leadership roles and opportunities.
The Signature Course runs once a year, from September to June. Participants spend one full day each month on themes such as education, economic development and criminal justice. Part of each day is dedicated to training in advanced leadership principles. Classes also develop and execute community service projects.
“I tell people we deal in a special economy, with a special currency. Our economy is people, and our currency is capacity,” Rutz said. “I like to say that it’s a profound ripple effect for good.”
Participants commit to a mandatory two-day orientation session in September. Tuition is $1,150. Partial scholarships are available. The nonrefundable application fee is $50. The application deadline is Aug. 5.
